The "Routledge Handbook of Gender in Central-Eastern Europe and Eurasia" edited by Katalin Fábián, Janet Elise Johnson and Māra Lazda, has been awarded with the prestigious "Heldt Prize" for best book in Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Women’s and Gender Studies from the Association of Women in Slavic Studies. Between the authors of the book is UL FSS associate professor Marita Zitmane and docent Laura Ardava-Āboliņa.

The Heldt Prize recognizes the accomplishments of Barbara Heldt, one of the founding mothers of Slavic Studies in the United States and of the AWSS.
