The aim of this COST action is to systematize, conceptualize, and enhance theoretical and empirical knowledge about the impact of deliberative discussions on contemporary decision-making.

The action places a strong emphasis on the role of deliberative discussions in stabilizing the social and political spheres of democracy and in addressing contemporary challenges and risks. The action will investigate the relationships between past, present, and future forms of deliberative discussions, taking into account historical deliberative practices, culture, cognition, and legitimacy narratives to ensure the general public good.

The action aims to foster collaboration with various stakeholders by establishing an interdisciplinary, open, and flexible international platform to discuss existing research approaches, stimulate new synergies, and develop a set of tools and guidelines that will assist in the development and implementation of policy, considering the impact of deliberative discussion models at the local, national, and international levels.

The COST project will run until 2027.
